About Ron Leshnower
Ron Leshnower is an attorney, author, and fair housing trainer based on Long Island. In addition to conducting fair housing training, Ron has appeared as a keynote/guest speaker on fair housing at real estate conferences and has presented his own Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminar for Long Island attorneys on fair housing law. He has authored five books, including the popular Fair Housing Helper for Apartment Professionals (Hillocrian Creative). He is also the author/illustrator of Fair Housing Haiku, which was published this year to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act. His books have become finalists for multiple awards and have achieved the distinction of #1 bestselling Amazon Kindle eBook on discrimination, Amazon.com #1 multi-category bestseller, and Amazon.com #1 New Release in Civil Rights Law.
Ron has been interviewed on CBS News and NBC News and has been quoted as an expert in The New York Times’ “Real Estate Q&A” column, The Associated Press’ “Your Money” series, the New York Daily News, CNBC.com, Black Enterprise, Bankrate.com, the Real Estate Intelligence Report, Minyanville.com, and the Landlord Law Report, among other publications.
In 2008, The New York Times Company’s About Group selected Ron as the About.com Guide to Apartment Living / Rental. He has since written hundreds of articles and blog posts offering useful tips, explanations of key industry developments, and insightful commentary on a wide range of topics pertaining to rentals. Ron has also written about real estate for Nolo.com and the National Apartment Association’s Units Magazine as well as several trade newsletters.
Ron earned a B.A. from Yale University and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law (with Honors in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Concentration). He is admitted to practice law in New York and Massachusetts and is a member of the Authors Guild.
